Who we are
Greek Island Moto (greekislandmoto.com) helps visitors find and book vehicle rentals across the Greek islands. We are the data controller for the information described on this page. For anything privacy-related, email greg@gregarmstrong.com.au and we'll respond within a month.
What we collect when you send a booking request
Your name, email, phone number (optional), the vehicle and dates you want, your language, and anything you write in the message field. We use it for exactly one thing: handling your request and passing it to the rental shop you chose. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
Who sees your data
The rental shop you asked us to contact, and the providers the site runs on: DigitalOcean (hosting), SendGrid (email delivery) and Cloudflare (DNS). All are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We never sell or share personal data for advertising.
How long we keep it
Booking requests are deleted no later than 12 months after our last contact with you. If your request becomes a rental contract with a shop, the records that Greek law requires rental companies to keep are held by that shop under its own legal retention periods.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 in consent mode. By default it sets no cookies and sends only anonymised, cookieless measurements. Only if you press Accept on the cookie banner does it store an analytics cookie so we can understand traffic better; advertising features remain switched off either way. You can change your choice at any time:
Driving licences (upcoming feature)
When online rental check-in launches, we will process the licence details Greek law requires rental companies to record (JMD 7350/2014): licence number, category and validity as structured data, with photo scans kept only as temporary evidence and deleted no later than 30 days after your rental closes. This policy will be updated with full details before the feature goes live.
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restriction of processing, portability, or object to processing — email us and we'll act within a month, free of charge. You can also lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (dpa.gr) or the supervisory authority where you live.
